Fade to Brown
The theme of the first show will revolve around East & South Asians and will feature top-notch comedians to represent these groups and provide their hilarious comedic perspectives:
Nicholas Reynoldson (NXNE), Ernie Vicente, Amish Patel (Omni TV), JJ Lieberman (Sportsnets Drafted) & Anto Man-Ming Chan (aka Punfucious)
Fade to Brown was originally created by Amish Patel as a South Asian sketch comedy troupe. Amish headed a creative team that wrote hilarious, sharp and provocative content that dealt with real-world issues such as racism, gender inequality and cultural identity. The team wrote and produced original sold out shows all over the city, culminating an an original sketch comedy musical Brown Side Story, performed for an audience of over seven hundred people at the Panasonic theatre. This caught the attention of Omni Television who commissioned Fade to Brown to write and produce a Fade to Brown TV special which led to the group being featured nationally on media outlets such as CBC radio, Omni TV, SunTV and NOW Magazine.
Building off the themes and content written with the original sketch troupe, Fade to Brown is now hard at work developing a TV show and a web series. The second is an original web series about dysfunctional arranged marriages called Arranged, and boasts test video that has garnered over 200,000 hits on YouTube.
Fade to Brown and Amish are excited to turn their attention to Stand-Up & Hip-Hop comedy while maintaining a focus on building a strong online following. In the coming months Fade to Brown will consistently produce shows that push the envelope and garner big laughs while creating strong personal connections with a large audience on-stage and online through YouTube, Facebook and various social networks.
